Background Information and Highlights
The Old Mill Aldermaston near Reading is one of Peter's favourite Berkshire wedding venues as it is such a photographers delight. Its also just a few minutes from his Burghfield Common base so its very convenient!
The Old Mill Aldermaston is a short distance west of Reading just off the main A4 and easily accessible from the M4 motorway. It has plenty of onsite free car parking.
Wedding ceremonies usually take place in the Stable Room. The larger Mill Room is usually utilised for the wedding breakfast and evening reception but it is licensed for ceremonies if you need the extra space. The Conservatory is also licensed for wedding ceremonies. The registrars responsible for weddings at the Old Mill are from Newbury Register Office. Most of the staff from this office are relaxed and easy to work with - so only minimal restrictions on professional photography and videography during ceremonies.

"The photos are absolutely stunning, we couldn't be any happier. A massive thankyou for everything you have done, you have been so professional, so easy to approach and talk to, and the photos you have captured of our day are beautiful. I will be recommending you the first chance I get! We are so chuffed the quality is unbelievable! "

"When looking for a photographer I had several criteria that had to be met. The photographs had to be excellent - I saw several albums so that it wasn't just the best ones that they showed us. When we went to see Peter he was still working on some shots from another wedding at our venue, so it was nice to see that he got some lovely pics from the venue and see the pictures before editing (as this showed he was a great photographer not just good with the computer). I also was picky about liking the person that I was going to have photographing my wedding. I hate having my photo taken and needed someone that I could relax around. For me the fact that the video would be unobtrusive was a bonus (using several small cameras). Everyone will be biased towards their own photographer, but I loved mine"

Hey, before you browse the many photos in this gallery why not watch this video featuring highlights from one of the weddings Peter has videoed at the Old Mill. It runs from the arrival of the guests to the end of the speeches. He offers standalone video and combined photography and video all at very affordable prices
The Stable Room - in which many wedding ceremonies are conducted - is gorgeous both outside and inside. It is quite a tight fit so consider the larger conservatory if you are to have lots of guests
The rear of this wedding venue is extremely pretty as well and makes for great photographic backdrops as you will appreciate in the next photograph
Stop Press: The interior of the Stable Room, which is where the ceremonies usually take place, has been redecorated to a much ligher brighter feel as in the above photo. Whilst Peter is updating this webpage and video some of the older shots featuring the heavy tapestries curtains and wallpaper are retained
The next photo above shows the conservatory at the Old Mill Aldermaston set up ready for a wedding ceremony
And a video “grab shot” of the wedding ceremony in progress in the Conservatory
The interior of the Stable Room can be quite a tight fit if you have lots of guests. The above photo was shot by Peter using a wide-angle lens to illustrate the whole of the front of the Stable Room. It can be tricky for professional photographers to take up a shooting position at the front without causing a major distraction due to the lack of space once the bride and groom and two registrars are in position. Peter can shoot from the rear and this works well. He has also had great success using small unattended video cameras hidden at the front to capture all the action close up
Many brides like to have some of their "getting ready" photographed and this will include the girls as they excitedly go about their preparations plus detail photos of the flowers, dress, shoes, jewellery and so on
We can see the bouquets awaiting the bride and bridesmaids in this photo
The Old Mill Aldermaston stands on the River Kennet and the Kennet and Avon Canal. So some couples like to make their arrival by canal boat
The little people always make great subjects
Most couples get ready at hotels or homes close to the Old Mill Aldermaston and then may arrange extra-special transport. Our bride in the above photo arrived with her bridesmaids in a 1946 Bedford O.B. single decker bus supplied by the excellent Ages Past from Eversley. On a previous occasion the driver had had to remove a birds nest complete with its young from inside the bus then put it all back for the mother bird after the wedding; Peter was glad to learn that they all survived and thrived!
