Background Information and Highlights

Our couple chose the delightful and friendly Our Lady and St John Church Goring on Thames Oxfordshire for their marriage ceremony. Goring on Thames is not short of churches, thats for sure, and Our Lady and St John - or to give the church its full name - Our Lady and St John and Christ the King Catholic Church is tucked away in Ferry Lane just south of the village centre.

The wedding ceremony was conducted by Father Tom and he has to be one of the easiest if not the easiest officiant to work with in the whole of Oxfordshire. Catholic priests are usually pretty easy-going anyway when it comes to professional photography during ceremonies but Father Tom is exceptional! Far from imposing any artificial restrictions he actually encouraged the guests to use their cameras, and of course Peter was able to shoot a great selection of images and record the whole ceremony on video.

The church itself is located down a narrow lane and parking is extremely limited. Guests are recommended to use the pay and display car park just a short walk away.

The weather on the day threatened to rain many times but we were pretty lucky. Just a few short showers in the morning, then a long period of fine conditions. The rain did catch up with us in the late afternoon and the various posed groups of family and friends had hurriedly to be relocated to a sheltered area beneath some trees at our reception venue.

After the ceremony we departed Our Lady and St John Church for the rest of the festivities in the nearby village of Lower Basildon. Our couple had a terrific marquee in the grounds of the private house.
