Background Information and Highlights
The Wokefield Estate Hotel (formerly known as Wokefield Park) Mortimer near Reading in Berkshire is a wedding venue with which I am very familiar having worked there many times over several years shooting weddings corporate events and parties - and it is within dog-walking distance of my Burghfield Common base!
The Wokefield Estate is easy to travel to being a very short hop from junction 11 of the M4 and just a few miles north of the M3. It has plenty of free onsite car parking.
Weddings take place in the Mansion House and there are three rooms licensed for ceremonies including high numbers in the Maple Restaurant. It is also possible to have a marquee in the grounds and the pergola is available for outdoor ceremonies. The Newbury registrars are responsible for the legal side.
The exterior enjoys large grounds and lawns plus a big lake surrounded by mature trees. The rear of the building has a light Mediterranean feel to it with its raised terraces. In very bright sunshine shaded areas suitable for the best quality portrait photography are in short supply but its worthwhile hunting these out.

Most brides like to start their coverage with some "getting ready" shots. Detail of the dress shoes flowers jewellery and so forth look great at the start of your album

The drinks served after the ceremony are a good candidate for photos and can look great featured creatively in your album. Here we see the bride and groom moments after their arrival at Wokefield Park from their ceremony in their nearby church
Some shade is available next to some mature trees and shrubs at one end of the building. This is recommended if the weather conditions are too bright for good quality portraits in the open spaces. Here we see a popular must-have shot of the bride and groom
The lake at the Wokefield Estate is a nice mature secluded location which is ideal for some set piece photos of the bride and groom. It is a few hundred yards from the main building and so a golf buggy may be arranged to transport you
On a sunny day it is absolutely glorious relaxing with friends and relations, catching up on news, in the gardens at the Wokefield Estate
The bride and groom are enthusiastic singers and theatre performers. Some of the guests were sure to take part!
