Bride and groom relax after their wedding in the plush Roseate Hotel in the centre of Reading Berkshire
Background Information and Highlights
The sumptuous Roseate Hotel Reading Berkshire is a terrific choice for civil weddings and receptions.
The hotel is located in the centre of Reading and so is an easy venue to reach from far and wide being a stones throw from the M4 motorway, a walk from the mainline railway station and a few short miles from London. Parking can be tricky but the hotel does have a few of its own parking spaces to the rear; your car can be valet parked.
Forbury Gardens is a very well maintained municipal park directly opposite the hotel. The gardeners work hard to keep it looking great and it is an excellent location for group photos. Permits for professional wedding photography are not required. The nearby ruins of Reading Abbey are another good photo location; ongoing restoration work may limit access though. The hotel has a small covered patio area to the rear which can be utilised if the weather just won't play fair..
The interior of the Roseate Hotel is designer heaven and offers numerous photogenic backdrops.
The registrars responsible for wedding and civil partnership ceremonies at the Roseate Hotel are from the nearby Reading Register Office and as always they were a pleasure to work with. Peter is able to shoot a full record of ceremonies in both stills and video.

The first photo above shows the imposing frontage of the Roseate Hotel, an ultra-stylish boutique wedding venue at the heart of the town of Reading Berkshire.
Peter has used an extreme wide-angle lens in the first few photos to enable the entire rooms to be displayed. The first one above illustrates the main function room set up ready for the wedding ceremony
The room shows it set up ready for the wedding breakfast. The table layouts can vary to multiple individual tables as you’ll see further down this gallery page
Most brides like to have the coverage started with “getting ready”. Detail photos of the dress, shoes, flowers, jewellery etc and of course the girls preparing their hair and makeup
Amazing wedding shoes!
It is popular to have a few semi-formal photos of the bride and if available her parents and bridesmaids
Some couples have their wedding ceremony at the local Registry Office rather than at the Roseate Hotel - which is only a couple of minutes walk away across the beautiful Forbury Gardens
The next few photos illustrate the wedding ceremony in progress at the Roseate Hotel. The Reading Registrars are easy to work with for professional photographers other than some of the staff do not permit fill-flash during ceremonies; that can be problematic in venues with very low ambient light as in this room in the Roseate Hotel. Peter needed to use extensive editing techniques afterwards to bring out as much detail as possible. You’ll see that things are “back to normal” after the ceremony!
The steps at the front of the hotel are an ideal location in which to shoot some of the popular big group photos
The gorgeous Forbury Gardens are just a few yards away from the hotel - a great place for the must-have portraits and group photos
The interior of the Roseate Hotel Reading has a multitude of terrific backdrops. You really are spoiled for choice for your photos
The speeches are a great photo opportunity and even more so for video - which Peter has shot numerous times
