Background Information and Highlights
The Lismoyne Hotel Fleet Hampshire is a very popular venue for marriage ceremonies and wedding receptions. The hotel is not far from the M25 and M3 motorways so is well situated for guests travelling from far afield. It is of course surrounded by the busy towns of Farnham, Farnborough, Aldershot and Camberley.
Wedding and civil partnership ceremonies for this area of Hampshire are the legal responsibility of the Aldershot Register Office and the registrars are always a delight to work with. As the professional photographer Peter is able to shoot a full range of photos and video during ceremonies.
The hotel has a good selection of interior areas including an ornate staircase and open fireplace suitable for the posed photos should the weather let you down. The gardens are surrounded on all sides by building and trees and these are great windbreaks on windy or chilly days! There is an old fashioned spiral fire escape leading into the gardens from the upper bedrooms and this is ideal to use when shooting large groups where a view from above can be desirable.
The hotel has plenty of onsite parking but its also a busy hotel and this can make it difficult to achieve a "clean" photo of the front of the hotel without parked cars obscuring the view. In fact its pretty much impossible unless you have an all day photographic coverage and Peter can be in position before lots of guests arrive.
Outdoor civil wedding ceremonies in England have to take place under a permanent structure - otherwise they are not legally valid. Hence the elaborate gazebo / pergola in the gardens at the Lismoyne Hotel. This itself presents some challenges for professional photography and videography because the VIPs tend to be bunched together often with backs towards the cameras, underneath the structure the light levels are much lower than the surroundings, and the structure itself presents barriers to obtaining "clean" shots. Roll on changes in legislation to allow truly outdoor ceremonies as is possible in Scotland!
See lots more wedding photo galleries including e.g. Peter’s Elvetham Hotel, Peter’s Rivervale Barn, Peter’s Loseley Park, Peter’s Audleys Wood Hotel, Peter’s Aviator Hotel, Peter’s Cantley House Hotel, Peter’s Warbrook House, Peter’s St Michael & All Angels Church Sandhurst, and many more.
"A huge thank you from Pamela and myself for all your work. All of our day guests remarked on how good they thought you were. Even the hotel management remarked to us on how professional you were in your approach to our day, and also in your dealings with the hotel. Thank you again"

The first photo above shows the main entrance at the front of the Lismoyne Hotel wedding venue in Fleet near Farnborough. Peter shot this photo close-up because although there is plenty of free space it is often the case that cars do park very close to the front!
The main function room at the rear of the Lismoyne Hotel all set up ready for the wedding ceremony
The seats always do look so much better when they are dressed up wedding style as in the photo above!
Outdoor weddings are fine at the Lismoyne Hotel Fleet
Most brides like to have their photo coverage start from the girls “getting ready” . Peter usually starts with some detail shots of the bouquets shoes dresses jewellery etc and these work great in wedding albums
It is great to get some fun photos of the groom and best man just before the ceremony starts

The kids always make for great photos throughout the day!
The lovely old oak stairs at the Lismoyne Hotel are always a popular backdrop for photos. This bride and groom posed together just before going on to their wedding ceremony in the gardens
The registrars for the Lismoyne Hotel are from the nearby Aldershot Register Office. They have always been very easy to work with and don’t impose any silly rules regarding professional photography and video

In England at present if weddings are to be conducted outside there must be a permanent structure such as a pergola under which the bride and groom must be located. This can make photography and video quite a challenge because on bright days the sunlight on the exterior can play havoc with the results. Professional photographers usually use fill-flash to help compensate between the relative shade inside the pergola and the bright contrasty sunshine outside
Once the civil marriage register has been completed and signed then the registration staff arrange for a pretend signing as photos and video are not allowed during the actual signing. The staff invite the guests to come forward to shoot their own photos
Confetti showers are fine outside the main building
The fire escape at the Lismoyne Hotel Fleet is a great position from which to shoot large group photos because it is possible to see everyone
Most couples prefer to have a photography style in a candid or “reportage” format for much of the day. Most do prefer though to include some semi-formal portraits and group photos, usually during a short photoshoot part of the day
