Background Information and Highlights
Our two featured wedding couples both chose the über stylish Aviator Hotel Farnborough Hampshire for their wedding ceremony and reception.
This boutique hotel is quite unlike any other wedding venue. Its style might be described as art deco, if that is to mean glamour, elegance, and modernity. It borders the world famous Farnborough airport and the interior of the hotel features many photos and memorabilia celebrating the site's rich aviation heritage. It is probably the last word in luxury (outside of some of the Gulf hotels) which makes it easy to understand why it is favoured by Formula 1 racing teams flying around the World from Farnborough.
The registrars who conduct marriages and civil partnership ceremonies at the Aviator Hotel are part of the excellent team from the nearby Aldershot office. They are some of the most pleasant and easiest to work with in the country. And the registrars couldn't be more suited to their work; its not just a job for them, its a vocation.
The first of the two ceremonies took place in the Aviator Hotel's Sky Lounge. The gorgeous design of the room makes for some great wedding photos and video. Our couple's reception also to place here - high up on the 4th floor with views to match.
The other featured bride and groom had their ceremony in the Wright Room - the main ground floor function room.
The Aviator Hotel Farnborough is pretty much unique in its design both inside and out. The lighting inside is varied in colour to accentuate the architectural and furnishing features and is very low. Professional photographers unfamiliar with this hotel should certainly visit it before the day to familiarise themselves with its technical demands. The hotel has very little in the way of formal gardens outside and this needs to be taken into account when planning the important posed groups of family and friends.
Both couples chose a short duration photographic package but it was amazing what we managed to fit in. And the first couple had video as well!
See lots more wedding photo galleries including e.g. Peter’s Rivervale Barn, Peter’s Cantley House Hotel, Peter’s Elvetham Hotel, Peter’s Loseley Park, Peter’s St Michael & All Angels Church Sandhurst, Peter’s Warbrook House, Peter’s Lismoyne Hotel, Peter’s Ramster Hall, and many more.
"The pictures are lovely, all well above our expectations. Thank you so much!!!"
Gary & Donna L (Aviator Hotel)
"The photo’s look fabulous. Thank you again, you were fantastic on our day and we are both so pleased we chose you"
Tim & Becky B (Aviator Hotel)
The exterior of the Aviator Hotel Farnborough as seen in the first photo above really is one of a kind. Marvellous
The rear of the hotel is somewhat open and flat - no doubt because of the need for the safety or nearby aircraft. To camera left you can see the terrace area available for wedding receptions
The Wright Room is easily accessible on the ground floor. It is light and airy
The next photo above shows the view from the top of the interior of the Aviator Hotel Farnborough. There are plenty of interesting photo opportunities
This photo shows the view of the adjacent airfield from the Sky Lounge. Peter used an extreme wide-angle lens
Many brides like to have their photo coverage start from the “getting ready”, including detail shots of the dress, shoes, flowers, jewellery etc
There are lots of fascinating objects and prints linking the history of Farnborough aviation throughout the hotel
IA popular request is to have a few semi-posed photos of the bride then the groom just before the ceremony
This ceremony took place in the upper level Sky Lounge at the Aviator Hotel
Bright direct sunshine can be quite a challenge even for professional photographers
The bride and groom make their vows part way through the marriage ceremony
The exchange of rings
The first kiss
Most registrars do not allow photography or video to be shot during the signing of the marriage register but usually there is an opportunity immediately afterwards with the use of a “pretend” register
The amazing staircase at the Aviator Hotel provides an opportunity for some really different photos such as this big group shot
There is very little space available at the front of the hotel to obtain photos with foliage backgrounds but we can just about do it
The speeches are always a terrific photo opportunity and even more so with video
Peter shot the photo above from the ground floor looking up towards the bride and groom who are on the top floor - you can just see them!
The next wedding was a different flavour - lots of light on this bright summer day. The bride poses with her maid of honour just before the start of the ceremony in this photo
The Sky Lounge at the Aviator Hotel set up ready for the wedding breakfast and reception
The little people are always great subjects!
It has become popular again for semi-posed photos to be shot of some of the guests during the reception
The speeches were conducted right at the top of the Aviator Hotel
