Background Information and Highlights
This gallery features two of the weddings shot by Peter at Ramster Hall, one a bright sunny day and another almost rained out all day - such extremes!
The delightful setting of Ramster Hall is in the village Chiddingfold near Godalming and Guildford Surrey.
Ramster has been well known for decades for its extensive landscaped gardens which have been open to the public since the 1920's. But garden visitors may never see the gorgeous Great Drawing Room in which weddings and civil partnership ceremonies are conducted, or the magnificent Long Hall which hosts the receptions.
Ramster has a lovely Edwardian country house feel to the interior, something often attempted but seldom achieved by corporate chain venues. There are lots of interesting artifacts from illustrious former residents of Ramster to ponder in any quiet moments.
Outside it has a large and well landscaped square surrounded on all sides by the building.
The registrars responsible for Ramster are very accommodating to professional photographers and videographers and both are permitted during ceremonies.
Professionals should be ready to push their equipment as the light levels in the Great Drawing Room vary enormously over short spaces when its sunny outside - be ready to make extensive use of exposure compensation and bracketing to counter backlighting from the windows, and you will need to use a very high ISO and fast lens in some situations.
On one of the days featured we had very bright sunshine - something no bride wants to miss out on - but a big issue for professional photographers because it is far from ideal for achieving good facial expressions and skin tones. Fortunately there is a large shaded area with a photogenic backdrop near the entrance which Peter was able to make extensive use of.
The other featured wedding had wet conditions for much of the day and some formal photos required by the clients were shot late in the evening! The beautiful gardens, which are open to the public, could not be utilised because of the weather. This bride and groom moved to California shortly after their wedding - no more rain for them!

"The photos are fabulous so thank you very much for you good work. I keep saying to Leanne that I hardly noticed you were there which is I’m sure is what you aim to achieve. We have had many comments to say how excellent the photos are and how they have captured the joy of the day with excellent quality"
