Funeral and Requiem Mass Video Service

Funeral at the Blessed Dominic Barberi Church Oxford

Background Information

Short versions of funeral service videos are on this page as samples. Full length videos supplied to the clients tend to be around 40 minutes to an hour if Church of England and in excess of one hour if Catholic.

Peter has also videoed and photographed very many churches for weddings, baptisms / christenings, and other events.

He records from the arrival of the guests for the funeral through to the departure of the deceased. Coverage may also include the interment at a separate location, and a wake (funeral reception) at a private house or other venue,

Peter discreetly uses two or more high definition video cameras. Plus accompanying audio recorders to obtain the best possible audio quality for readings at the lectern etc. Usually he liaises with the undertakers prior to the day. It also helps if an Order Of The Day can be provided prior to the day as a PDF document sent by email attachment; this is so that it is easier to anticipate the various events planned for the service.

A short chat with the priest shortly before the start of the service helps e.g. to ascertain from which locations within the church the various guests may make their readings etc.

He supplies the completed video fully edited a short time after the funeral - usually the next day. It is a high definition MP4 file on a USB drive and downloadable from a private area of Google Drive. It can also be uploaded to a private area of Youtube in order that friends and relations who could not attend the Service can watch it online later.

Peter does not recommend commercial live streaming (n.b. being broadcast in real time over the internet) because the equipment and techniques required for reliable streaming can be very distracting for the guests. Some churches do now have limited streaming but tend to be limited to a single long-shot camera from the back of the venue. Plus most funeral services take place midweek daytime and so many prospective attendees cannot join live streams because of work commitments.

Photo coverage - though an unusual request - can be added.

The video above is a short version of a funeral service held at All Saints Church a short walk west from the centre of Reading in Berkshire.. Sylvia, the deceased, chose Time To Say Goodbye with Katherine Jenkins and Silent Night with Elvis in addition to her hymns. She lived in the immediate area for much of her life and was married at this church.

The video above is a short version of a funeral service held at St Bonaventures Church in St Albans Hertfordshire. Marie, the deceased, was one of twelve brothers and sisters! They were brought up in New Zealand and the remaining siblings wanted to see the funeral but were not able to travel from New Zealand to the UK.

The video above is a short version of a funeral service held at St Peters Church Earley a few minutes east of Reading in Berkshire. The burial took place immediately after the service at the adjacent cemetery. Sylvia, the deceased, lived in Jamaica in her younger days and this is why she chose Harry Belafonte's Banana Boat Song to be played at the ceremony! And John Newton's Amazing Grace is of course universally loved.
