Background Information and Highlights:

Catherine and David chose a short duration combined photography and video package for their marriage ceremony and wedding reception at the Old Town Hall and the Corn Exchange Bedford.

The Old Town Hall is located right in the centre of Bedford and just a few yards from the well-known entertainment venue The Corn Exchange. Parking can be problematic but since our couple had scheduled their ceremony for 4pm we did benefit from the less hectic ambience of the late afternoon. The nearest parking is behind the Old Town Hall adjacent to the council offices and is limited to two hours during the day.

Neither the Old Town Hall nor the Corn Exchange have their own private areas outside suitable for posed wedding photos. However the register office staff were very helpful and they made available the grand old mayors chamber in the Old Town Hall for some family and group photos. The area to the front of the Corn Exchange is beautiful - reminiscent of the Oxford Colleges - but it does get completely overrun on market days; we were able to make some good use of it in the early evening once the stallholders had gone on their way. Another possible location - one which Peter uses with the Bedford Swan Hotel - is the park to the south of the river immediately over the bridge but this can be a bit of a trek for the guests.

There were no onerous restrictions on photography or video during the wedding ceremony and Peter was able to shoot a good selection of stills and video clips throughout.

The first featured photo below illustrates the imposing exterior of the Old Town Hall which greets its visitors:

A long reach lens enabled Peter to shoot the actual vows crib sheet from a discreet distance:

The registrars had no hangups about shooting during the ceremony - if only all areas were like that!

Very soon the deed was done and our bride and groom made their grand exit on their way to the mayors chamber next door for a few photos:

The mayors chamber has an attractive olde worlde decor and so makes for a good location for some posed photos:

Once the area outside the Corn Exchange is cleared of the outdoor market it is terrific place for wedding photos:

Some of the guests were persuaded to venture into the daylight outside the Corn Exchange Bedford for a few group photos:

Our bride and groom are enthusiastic dancers and so the first dance really was special!
