Helen and Brad chose a combined photography and video package which started shortly before the start of their wedding ceremony and finished once the speeches in the wedding breakfast had been completed.
Our couple chose Sonning Golf Club for both the marriage ceremony and the reception. The club is located on the eastern outskirts of Reading Berkshire and is just a few minutes away from the nearest M4 motorway junction - so it is easy to reach for your guests!
The club has been hosting weddings for many years and this showed in the polished professional service experienced on the day. The facilities for photography are great - the main ceremony room opens out onto a large terrace area of which you have exclusive use on the day. Lots of paved areas so the ladies do not need to worry about sinking into grass in their high-heels. The borders have mature plants and shrubs and, most importantly of all for photography, there is plenty of shade afforded by a large tree - this matters if the sun is very bright as otherwise it can be tricky to achieve flattering skin tones in portraits.
The registrars responsible for weddings at Sonning Golf Club are from the nearby Wokingham Register Office. As always they were a real pleasure to work with.
The first photo below shows the imposing frontage to Sonning Golf Club:
The next two photos - both shot with a special wide-angle lens - show the main function room at Sonning Golf Club prepared ready for the wedding ceremony:
Grandfather proudly wears his blazer displaying the Royal Corps of Signals Crest:
The terrace at the club was surrounded by lovely in-flower hydrangeas - a great backdrop for posed photos like the next one featuring our groom with his brother and mum:
The registrars are fine with professional photography and video during the wedding ceremony:
Once the wedding ceremony is over the registrars invite guests to shoot their own photos of the bride and groom with the marriage register:
At the rear of Sonning Golf Club there is a flat roof. This is a great vantage point from which to shoot big group photos as the high elevation enables everyone to be seen as in the next photo:
The gardens at terrace at Sonning Golf Club are a delightful backdrop for the must-have photos:
The shaded area underneath the big tree on the terrace has decking surrounding it - ideal for the ladies in their high heels when the grass might otherwise be too damp and soft:
The table decorations and table plan chosen by our couple had a superhero theme:
Confetti is allowed outside at the front of the club:
The wedding breakfast is a terrific time to shoot some character photos of the guests:
The next photo shows what can happen if a guest camera with flash is fired at exactly the same time as Peter's camera - massive shadows. However on this occasion it works rather well considering the super-hero theme to the reception; just look at that brute on the wall!
The wedding speeches work great on video - even better than with photos - as you do of course get to hear what was said. Imagine being able to replay that years from now!
The speeches were accompanied by a slideshow:
