Our couple chose the ever popular Savill Court near Windsor and Egham Surrey for their wedding ceremony and reception. They chose an all day combined photography and video package starting with the girls and boys getting ready and finishing shortly after the first dance.
This was a late afternoon ceremony on a winters day and so there was not the opportunity to shoot the group photos and portraits in the hotel's lovely grounds - or to shoot very much else outside for that matter! However we were able to make good use of the pretty interior complete with its Christmas decor.
The wedding ceremony took place in the Old Library - a room with a real country house vibe courtesy of its dark oak panelling. The room has very low ambient light making it a real challenge for professional photographers. However the registrars who conduct ceremonies at Savill Court are extremely easy to work with - no restrictions on flash photography - and this was one of those occasions when it really was essential to use some fill-flash.
After the ceremony the staff cleared the Old Library of chairs and we then used it to shoot the group photos. Peter put up some mains powered studio lights - we really did need that much power - and with the great co-operation of all our guests the photos were completed in double quick time.
After the cocktail hour we gathered in the spacious Orangery for the wedding breakfast. Great choice of Sri- Lankan food, plus some standard British choices for those of a less adventurous disposition.
The first photo below illustrates the grand avenue entrance to Savill Court. It would have been nice to have sunshine and fluffy clouds but hey this was December!
The Old Library - where the ceremonies usually take place - is on the ground floor centre of the next photo. The Orangery is the circular building on the left:
