If you are planning a wedding in the Sonning Reading Henley Maidenhead and Wokingham areas do take a look at the Prices, the Photo Galleries, the Videos, and the Albums. This gallery illustrates just one of many venues for you to browse.
Thank you so much for all the time and effort you have put in - on the day and afterwards. We really appreciate it. Thank you again for such wonderful photos. They really are excellent. We are so pleased with them. And the video is brilliant. I particularly loved hearing the speeches again as there were things I had missed on the day.

The beautiful riverside wedding venue The Great House at Sonning is a very popular Berkshire venue for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
The hotel is located just to the east of Reading and the west of Maidenhead. It is a short distance from the M4 motorway and so is easy to reach. There is a reasonable amount of free onsite car parking - though the car park can get full so arrive early to avoid any complications!
The registrars responsible for civil partnership and marriage ceremonies at the Great House at Sonning are from the local Wokingham Office. They are always pretty easy going and so it is possible to shoot a good selection of stills and video during the wedding ceremony without any silly rules getting in the way.
The first photo below is the view of the Great House at Sonning that greets you as you turn off the country lane next to the bridge:
Some of the best views of the Great House At Sonning are actually from the nearby bridge over the River Thames. In the photo below you can see the hotel in the foreground together with the tops of its terrace parasols. The grassy area in the immediate foreground is part of the towpath and is a great location for some setpiece photographs of the bride and groom, with the bridge in the background:
Here is the main ceremony room set up ready for a wedding ceremony:
And an alternative configuration of the room which works particularly well for smaller ceremonies:
Many brides like their coverage to start a with some detail photos of the bouquets, dresses, shoes and so on - all look great at the start of your wedding album:
If you get ready at the Great House at Sonning there are some charming olde worlde rooms in the building you see in the next photo, plus a more modern building adjacent to the main hotel:
The hotel is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies but you can of course get married elsewhere before coming to the Great House at Sonning for your wedding reception. Our couple in the next photo chose St Andrews Church Sonning. This church is very convenient as it is only a few yards from the hotel!
The next couple chose St James the Great Church in Ruscombe:
And this couple chose Greyfriars Church in the centre of Reading:
And a civil wedding ceremony in full swing at the Great House at Sonning:
The lovely gardens are a great location to capture some great character photos of the guests:
Confetti is allowed in the gardens at the Great House at Sonning:
The gardens are varied and well-tended making them an ideal location for the essential group photos:
There are some great photos just begging to be shot down by the riverbank as well:
The function rooms set up ready for the wedding breakfast look great in your photo album as well.
The speeches are always a terrific photo and video opportunity:
A photo of the venue after dark makes a great closing page for your album:
