St Peter and St Paul Church in the village of West Clandon near Guildford Surrey hosted this marriage ceremony. We had a relief vicar on the day and he was happy for photography and video to take place during the wedding ceremony. As you'll see the layout of the church is such that its possible to obtain shots from both the back and the front without causing distractions.
Mia and Chris chose nearby Clandon Park for their wedding reception. This National Trust mansion is just a short walk from the church. Clandon Park has restricted opening hours so be sure to check before making a special visit. Also note that some areas such as the Marble Hall are only open at certain times even during the wedding day so do check on that before planning photography in the hall.
Wedding photography in the well maintained grounds of Clandon Park is straight forward with lots of alternative locations and backdrops.
The wedding reception was held in the cellars below the house. Wedding photographers should find shooting in the cellars quite easy as the walls and ceiling are white and make good surfaces from which to bounce fill light. So don't be alarmed if you hear you'll be working in the cellars!
The weather for this October wedding was bright and mild - always a relief for Autumn events! Of course the evenings get dark early at that time of year but we were able to shoot numerous family groups requested by the couple in the cellars. The Marble Hall was not available later in the day because of National Trust restrictions.
