Background Information
Juliette and Fergus chose the beautiful old country house Avington Park on the River Itchen near Winchester Hampshire for their wedding and reception. Avington Park is a private home and it shows; there is an abundance of gorgeous and interesting furniture decor and artifacts reflecting the family's history which you simply don't see at corporate venues.
Wedding photography at Avington Park is a dream. The grounds are well maintained and border the River Itchen. The river is slow flowing with picturesque reed banks and an old iron bridge.
The registrars for this civil marriage came from nearby Winchester. They were reasonably helpful as regards photography during the ceremony. Wedding photographers at Avington Park should note that the Ball Room on the first floor where this ceremony took place can be difficult to shoot in when bright sunlight streams through the large windows. You'll need to dial in plenty of exposure compensation to allow for the backlight.
The wedding breakfast was in the library plus the conservatory.
Juliette and Fergus are both vets. Juliette particularly loves horses - hence the carriage ride to Avington Park with her father and a trip around the nearby lanes with Fergus after the ceremony.
The weather for this July wedding started fine and sunny but deteriorated during the day to heavy rain. The couple required a reportage style with few formal photographs. Some of the formals were done in the evening during the rain but at Avington Park the participants can gain some shelter by posing just outside the main entrance. The wedding photographer however has to get wet! Ashton Lamont uses specialist equipment that can be used in the rain.
