This is a feature christening / baptism gallery illustrating christenings and baptisms around Berkshire. Browse lots of complete galleries via the links below and via the main Galleries Page. And don't forget to check out the Videos Page!
The pictures are great, we really love them, thank you very much. I estimate your internet traffic has increased by about a million per cent as my mum is viewing the pictures daily and sending the link to all her friends!!!!!
Peter shoots lots of christenings and baptisms (almost the same thing!) in Reading, Newbury, Maidenhead, Slough, Bracknell, Ascot, Windsor, in fact throughout Berkshire the Thames Valley and beyond into London Hampshire and Oxfordshire.
This page gives you lots of information about the service and options available, and is illustrated with photos from several Berkshire christenings.
Coverage usually starts with the arrival of the guests at your church. It can start at your home if you wish, and can then include getting ready for the big day plus some portraits with mum and dad, brothers and sisters, grandparents, godparents - and anyone else who happens to be around!
Peter then moves on to your church and shoots some scene setting photos both outside and inside the building - we have so many beautiful churches in this part of the world!
Professional photography and video of your child's baptism ceremony is usually permitted but you should check with your priest beforehand as some churches have onerous restrictions which could lead to disappointment. Also, some churches conduct christenings for several children from different families during the same ceremony and this in turn may mean there are some restrictions in order to respect the wishes of the other families.
Once the ceremony is finished Peter recommends that we complete some group photos plus some portraits. These can be completed inside and outside the church and at your reception / party venue if applicable. Its nice to have a group photo of everyone who attends, followed by various combinations with parents, siblings, grandparents and other close relations, godparents, and any other VIPs. Peter will discuss this with you before the day. Unlike many photographers Peter does not put any artificial limits on the number of posed photos so if you want lots and lots thats no problem at all!
We can then adjourn to your party venue if you wish.
It may be possible to video the ceremony. Please check with your celebrant before booking this optional extra for christenings. Peter's normal service can easily include both photography and video. See how he does it via the main Video Page. If you require video only please specify this in your enquiry.
The price depends on your specific requirements. Please contact Peter for a personalised quotation.
A deposit of £95 is required to confirm your booking, and the balance is payable before the day of the christening. Payment methods include online, debit and credit card by phone, cheque, cash, and online bank transfer. Bank transfer is Peter's preferred method (please request the sort code and account number as these cannot be put online).
You do not need to complete a formal contract unless you prefer to do so; your booking is accepted on condition that you accept the standard terms and conditions within the Photography / Videography Contract.
The first photo below is a typical "scene setting" shot taken early in the day to illustrate your venue. In this case it is All Saints Church Downshire Square Reading Berkshire.
Many of our Berkshire churches have very grand interiors, as does All Saints Church Downshire Square:
Some detail photos can be a nice touch especially if you are having an album:
Another scene-setting photo, this time its St Barnabas Church Emmer Green near Reading Berkshire:
And another, St Francis Church Ascot Berkshire:
St Michaels Church Bray near Maidenhead Berkshire is a lovely church both inside and outside:
Some photos with mum and dad and other VIPs before departing for the ceremony make a nice start to the day. The next photo features mum and her sister with the man of the moment before his baptism at St Michaels Church Bray Maidenhead Berkshire:
Peter photographs the arrival of the guests, many of whom take the opportunity to have a quick photo with the baby:
If you're thinking two of the babies in this gallery look very similar ..... well you're right! They are sisters and were photographed around four years apart at their own christening ceremonies at All Saints Church Reading:
Occasionally professional photography and video is restricted during baptism ceremonies but most priests are great and do all they can to ensure that the families can receive a complete record of this important day. This Reading Berkshire priest is fantastic to work with:
Some "reportage" style photos during the ceremony work great:
Its always surprising how well behaved most babies are during their baptism ceremony. It makes the job of photography and video an absolute delight:
This young lady is in some of the other photos when she was four years younger and at her own christening ceremony!
Candles are always a source of great fascination for the youngsters:
Babies from two different familes were baptised during this ceremony. As you can see it can get a bit crowded!
This ceremony took place at St Francis Church Ascot Berkshire:
This baptism ceremony took place at Burghclere Church Newbury, or to give it its full name The Church of the Ascension Burghclere:
Once the ceremony is finished you may like to have some group photos before leaving the building. Parents and godparents pose with the newly christened baby in the next photo shot at All Saints Church Reading Berkshire:
And the proud parents:
Grandparents always appreciate a photo of themselves with their newly-christened grandchild:
The godparent in the next photo was by coincidence the carpenter who had made an excellent job of installing wooden floors in Peter's house years earlier. We recognised each other - eventually!
Its a nice touch to have the priest in a few of the photos, as in this group photo shot after the baptism ceremony at St Barnabas Church Emmer Green near Reading Berkshire:
The parents with their son after his christening at St Michaels Church Bray near Maidenhead Berkshire. By this time their little boy had fallen asleep!
Grandparents parents and the newly-christened Bea at St Francis Church Ascot Berkshire.
Parents and godparents with Dylan after his christening at Burghclere Church Newbury Berkshire:
We completed a group photo of all the guests after this christening at St Michaels Church Bray Maidenhead Berkshire:
Its also nice to get some semi-formal photos of the newly-baptised baby with parents grandparents and other VIPs as in the next photo shot in the churchyard at All Saints Church Reading:
The christening is also an opportunity to shoot a some photos of the mum and dad together. Often this is the first time since their wedding day!
Often the coverage continues at the party location. Here we see new-christened Bea with her parents and older brother after her baptism in Ascot Berkshire:
Some parents arrange an informal party in a village hall or pub whilst others may arrange a much grander affair!
This christening party took place at the Newbury Manor Hotel in between Newbury and Thatcham after the christening ceremony in Burghclere Church Newbury. This can also be a good opportunity to shoot some family group photos with the various guests:
